My Story

26+ Years in San Diego Mortgage Lending

I started in mortgage lending in 1999. That gives me a perspective that’s hard to fake. I’ve helped first-time buyers when rates were 8%, move-up families when rates were 2.5%, and everyone in between. I’ve closed loans during the 2008 collapse and the 2021 buying frenzy, and a lot of normal Tuesdays. That history shows up in the way I work. Nothing in this market surprises me, which means I can keep my clients calm when things get bumpy.

I run my business under the San Diego Home Lender brand, while my mortgage license is brokered through HomePlus Mortgage. I’ve helped San Diego military families use their VA entitlement for more than two decades. Camp Pendleton Marines, Naval Base San Diego sailors, Miramar families, NAS North Island, retirees from every branch. San Diego County has one of the highest VA loan volumes in the country, and most of my repeat business comes from military families and their referrals.

Purchase loans

First-time buyers, move-up buyers, and people relocating to San Diego from out of state. I don’t chase refinance business and I don’t try to be everything to everyone. Purchase loans get my full attention.

Why Solo

Why a Solo Broker Beats a Team or a Direct Lender

Most mortgage shops fall into two buckets. National call centers (Rocket, SoFi, Veterans United) where you’re a portal login and a different loan officer answers every call. Or local direct lenders with a team of loan officers where you get whoever is on duty that day.

I’m neither. I’m a solo broker with one trusted, fully licensed loan processor (Joshua Barton) handling the back office. When you call, you get me. When your file hits a hiccup at 4pm on a Friday, I’m the one calling you back, not a junior loan officer who hasn’t seen your loan before or who doesn’t have the years of experience and expertise like me.

And because I’m a broker (not a direct lender), I’m not stuck selling one bank’s product. I shop your loan across more than 75+ wholesale lenders and find the one that actually fits.
